In a gift shop, on a shelf
I admired my first piece of Kintsugi
I handled it with awe and care
Within, I saw its beauty.
Stronger and more beautiful
Were the pieces for having been broken
I wanted to share what Kintsugi means
With you, by giving you this token.
He’ll bind your wounds, He’ll heal your heart
If you give Him all your broken pieces
He’ll make beauty out of your brokenness
As the light from deep inside your soul increases.
Kintsugi repairs broken pottery with gold
The Potter holds us skillfully in His hand
Both strengthen the weaknesses in the vessel
Making them useful and whole again.
From our fractured places comes
An invitation for us to offer compassion
In our woundedness, we learn of hope
To love others becomes our passion.
Each day I used to look in the mirror
Scars were all that I could see
But I see beauty for ashes now
This was His will for me.
There could never be a more beautiful you!
In God’s Word, was it not spoken?
Psalm 34:18 and 147:3
Remember them when you feel broken.
